Helping Young People Navigate Identity, Relationships and Purpose in a Changing World

The adam & eve paradox

Exploring Healthy Masculinity, Healthy Femininity, Leadership, Faith & Psychology Presented by Dorian Carey; high school Health & Physical Education Teacher, now Counsellor, Speaker, and Founder of Level Up Counselling.

image
Today’s students are growing up in a culture filled with competing messages about identity, masculinity, femininity, relationships and purpose. Many are asking important questions:
  • What does it really mean to be a man?
  • What does it really mean to be a woman?
  • Are men and women different?
  • Why are healthy relationships becoming increasingly difficult?
  • Can Christianity and psychology work together?
  • How do we become leaders who positively influence others?
The Adam & Eve Paradox creates a respectful, thought-provoking environment where students are encouraged to think critically, ask honest questions and explore these issues through both biblical wisdom and evidence-informed psychology. Rather than telling students what to think, this event teaches them how to recognise unique differences, and think wisely.

why “THE ADAM & EVE PARADOX”?

Throughout history, the relationship between men and women has shaped families, communities and civilisation. Yet today’s generation is navigating unprecedented confusion around identity, relationships and purpose.
The paradox is this:We have more information than any generation before us, yet many young people feel more uncertain about who they are and how healthy relationships work.
This presentation explores that paradox with honesty, humility and hope. Students leave challenged, not with simplistic answers, but with practical wisdom and a framework for making healthy decisions throughout life.

A UNIQUE PRESENTATION FORMAT

Student survey → data analysis → identification of student understanding → customised presentation → students see themselves reflected in the findings → facilitated education and discussion.
step one
Anonymous Student Survey
Prior to the presentation, students complete an anonymous online survey provided by Dorian. The survey explores students’ perceptions and attitudes surrounding topics such as:
  • Masculine and Feminine behaviours, traits and roles.
  • Societal trends and norms about men and women through a cultural lens.
  • Christian faith and what the Bible says about men and women.
  • Relationships between men and women according to their generations understanding.
Individual students are never identified.
The purpose is to understand the collective attitudes and understandings of the student cohort.
step two
Analysis & Preparation
Dorian collates and analyses the anonymous survey data to create a unique presentation directly informed by the students’ responses.
For each area explored in the survey, the students’ collective perspectives are examined alongside Biblical Christian theology and evidence-informed psychological concepts. This allows the presentation to begin with what students actually think, believe and experience, before introducing ideas that can challenge, deepen and grow their understanding of themselves and others.
The presentation then draws on the enduring archetypes represented in the biblical account of Adam and Eve, exploring what they can teach us about masculinity, femininity, identity, leadership and healthy relationships in the modern world.
Rather than simply telling students what to think, The Adam & Eve Paradox uses their own collective voice as the starting point for deeper conversation, critical reflection and personal growth.
step three
The Adam & Eve Paradox Presentation
Students are brought face-to-face with their own collective voice, seeing how their year group responded to key questions about masculinity, femininity, identity, relationships, leadership and faith.
Dorian uses this student data as the starting point for an engaging and thought-provoking presentation, exploring where students agree, where perspectives differ, and what these patterns might reveal about the beliefs and influences shaping them.
Drawing on Biblical Christian theology and evidence-informed psychology, Dorian uses the enduring archetypes of Adam and Eve to explore healthy masculinity and femininity, identity, relationships, personal responsibility and leadership in the modern world.
Students are encouraged not simply to accept what they are told, but to think critically, reflect honestly and consider who they are becoming, and how their choices, values and behaviour influence themselves, their relationships and the communities they lead.
